What to feed your dog?<\/span><\/h2>\n

The dog, like the wolf, needs a large amount of meat, but not only that. He needs to eat a balanced diet <\/b>: a mixture of protein<\/b>, fat<\/b>, fibre<\/b>, minerals<\/b> and vitamins<\/b>. <\/span><\/p>\n

It is important to give quality food. This is why it is interesting to go a little further in the study of the foodstuffs used but also their origin. Whether for animal proteins or other ingredients, some manufacturers only take poor quality leftovers and add a lot of sugars and bad fats, dogs will find the food palatable but health concerns will begin.<\/span>

Fibre is very good (in the right quantity) for good digestion<\/b>. In addition to being a source of energy, they facilitate digestion by improving intestinal transit. Fibres are not stored. The more of it in the food, the faster your dog will go to the toilet. A dog should poop between 1 and 3 times<\/b> a day maximum. <\/span><\/p>\n

Vitamins<\/span><\/h3>\n

A dog’s body (like a man’s) does not produce vitamins naturally. It is therefore essential to look for them in their diet<\/b>. Vitamins C and B help the proper development of bones and teeth<\/b>, among other things. A little tip to help you choose the right food for your dog when feeding him kibble is to look at the analytical composition<\/b>. The first ingredient that must appear is “fresh meat<\/b>” and not “cereals” or “animal by-products” or “animal meal”.<\/a>. When to feed my dog: how many meals a day and how often?<\/span><\/h2>\n

Firstly, it is strongly discouraged to allow the dog full access to its food<\/b> at will and it is therefore recommended that it be given in the form of a meal. Normally, two meals<\/b> are recommended for dogs with a distended stomach, however there are some exceptions:<\/span><\/p>\n

Puppies, sporting dogs or pregnant females<\/span><\/h3>\n

They have higher energy requirements and therefore require larger quantities of food – to be split in more than one meal. There are specially designed feeds for pregnant females. It is important to note that they are similar to puppy recipes with higher energy intakes. <\/span><\/p>\n

Dogs suffering from gastrointestinal disorders<\/span><\/h3>\n

Fractionating the meals of dogs suffering from such disorders will ensure easier digestion. <\/span><\/p>\n

Especially voracious dogs by nature<\/span><\/h3>\n

Dogs such as Beagles and Labrador Retrievers are by nature more voracious than other breeds and require control over their food. It is not advisable to give only one ration during the day. The dog will swallow 300-400 grams of food in one meal, which will make him thirsty and he will drink his water bowl directly. His stomach will swell due to this excess of food and water which is not good for the dog and will provoke vomiting in case of exercise.<\/span>
\nIt is therefore better to split into several meals. The owner can feed in 3x over the day to give his dog fuel for the whole day and give him the impression that he eats often. <\/span><\/p>\n

When to switch to adult dog food?<\/span><\/h2>\n

The opposite is true and the adult dog must eat adapted kibbles, as he no longer needs as much protein and calcium.<\/span><\/p>\n

The transition from puppy kibble to adult kibble is around 6 to 8 months for an average dog and 10 to 12 months for a large dog.<\/b> A puppy should be put on adult kibble in the last third of its growth. <\/span>
